About MuseumBlogs.org
MuseumBlogs.org is a directory of museum and museum-related blogs as well as a space for re-postings and roundups. The purpose of the site is to raise awareness and increase the authority of blogs focusing on museum issues. Authority is used by search engines to filter results. The more links, the more authority and more visible a blog will become.
The Directory
A publicly editable, moderated directory provides a central website for listings to museum and museum-related blogs.
The Blog
We encourage re-posting from qualified blogs and bloggers. The aim of MuseumBlogs.org is to drive visitors to other museum blogs and increase their authority. If you're interested in re-posting or creating roundups which focus on the museum blog world, please feel free to contact us for password and log in information.
Who and Why?
This site was developed by Ideum. We're a small design company that develops interactive exhibits and websites for museums. The idea for MuseumBlogs.org came about after we developed a survey of museum blogs & community sites in March of 2006. One of the major outcomes was that the vast majority of museum blogs lack authority which was covered in a follow up post on the Ideum blog. It's our hope that MuseumBlogs.org will help increase communities’ awareness and authority.
Policies
MuseumBlogs.org is run as a public service and encourages community participation. The site does not accept commercial advertising of any kind.

It is interesting what is happening at the Manchester Museum. More and more members of staff turn to blogging to talk about collections and exhibitions, reflect upon their own work, offer a glimpse of what happens ‘behind the scenes’ and invite people to voice their views about all these. There are

There are two types of books in the world—those that writers choose to write for themselves (and with the hope, of course, that someone will publish them) and those that writers are commissioned to write. I was commissioned to write Every Way Possible, the first published history of the Indianapolis Museum

Have you ever wondered how the IMA ended up in what is at once a beautiful, yet (relatively speaking) a remote, setting? For many people, the answer lies in the 1966 gift of the family estate by the children of J.K. Lilly, Jr.—but true as that is, there’s an even more

After writing or co-writing histories of the IMA, the Herron School of Art & Design, and the Indianapolis Art Center, I’ve come to appreciate the fact that the most important resource an organization needs to succeed is people. I know that’s stating the obvious, but it’s worth acknowledging. Without people

6 years ago, I stood in a classroom on the campus of Indiana University and gave a presentation on the marketing department of the Indianapolis Museum of Art. A first year graduate student pursuing my master’s degree in Arts Administration, I was enrolled in a course called Arts Marketing and Audience

In a session at last weekend’s Blog Indiana 2008 conference, a speaker stressed the importance of using our senses to sharpen our observations in order to better share them. Environment is highly considered in many professions such as architectural design, retail and food service. Marketers want to make us comfortable and

My last day at the IMA did nothing for my stomach.
After a few last minute tasks in the morning, Meg, my internship mentor for the summer, and I strolled over to our escape vehicle from the great indoors. A single key, a nine-person van and one destination: MUG n’ BUN Drive-in.
